I do this for you

Artist Unknown

I do this for you, little girl concealed under a folding of the heart.

Shrinking is no longer an option.

I reach down, squeeze my hand through the roots my past, under the ground, I reach

down

to find you. Pull you upwards by your neck. I look at you

whisper

I love you

This

is all for you.

No, I do not whisper.

I howl

an animal that’s been muzzled for so long –

I LOVE YOU

This

is all for you.

*

How much space do you need to fully expand

like a cat stretching into rest, expand like cells filled with life force, expand

And

a small incapable hand

has been trying to hold you – but failed to hold that vastness.

How did they try to fit you into such small places tight clothes

they always wished

you were

easier to hold.

For how long did you try to make your body smaller

since when smaller, slender is better?

Or worse?

Who decides?

besides

Who makes these twisted rules that twist us into shapes

making our bodies coil like worms, stagnant,

quieting down the voice in our skins. Who decides

how much love you’re worth giving. Who loved you like this in halves who left you who betrayed you – what sins.

Look at you, you are a breathing miracle, body of self-sufficiency fed by the god within who feeds you unfathomable strength.

Your purpose is at an arm’s length.

Just believe. You forgot to believe and shrunk your world into miracle-less, into a dry repetitive world seeking stale lovers, you sank into an idle life, forgetting to believe.

But today I tell you.
Unweave

the power you hold within those bones,

under those bones.

Just like the earth holding its aliveness within its stones

brewing

so much power brewing, containing itself until its time comes.

They do not want you to believe in what is possible,

in what your world could contain. They do not want you to grieve.

They tell you you’re nothing in a world so huge, who are you anyway?

Okay

let me tell you:

You

are necessary, an essential breathing miracle.

oracle.

Do not follow them, do not be like them – dry empty so asleep.

I beg you – believe.

Live

within uncertainty and darkness. The greatest gift of life was brought by a frightening darkness seemingly with no foundation.

Unweave.

Expand your world – bigger

so it can contain you fully

so you can open up into dance

taking up all space, take every chance.

Will you please stop squishing pushing forcing yourself into this square white box

they gave you this along with a twisted paradox – to hell with it.

To hell with shrinking. To hell with half loves and liars. To hell with being caged animals.

Stretch

open

expand

demand a dream larger than the one you’ve been taught to dream.

soak up the moonbeam

be big and

take up space

The world is a miracle.
