Fierce grace

Artist unknown

We ready ourselves –
sharpening our bones like swords.
Strengthening our palms to hold
more than we’ve ever held before.

We bring our body into a lightness;
within this lightness we can move swiftly
and love with ease.
We expand in a new love that is fierce
yet graceful
like the love of a lioness protecting her young.

We wear a white moon as armour
and the mountains place their commands on us.

Our work is not to be done alone.
I feel now in me with unwavering clarity
I was not made to be tamed
or sane.

With fierce grace
we harden our skins
nourish our blood with the earth’s offerings.

They’ve lost the plot.

We lost the plot
and found
the only one worth fighting for.
