July 18: Beautiful things – observing what is

1. And sometimes we have to come back to the world even when there’s no light and even when our flaws cling to us, reminding us of our darkness, we come back and love it anyway, just as it is.

2. Golden kiwis, their juices weeping down the length of my arm like soft honey.

3. Three beetroots, heart-shaped and luminous, one-legged and rooting downwards, also stretching up their pink arms. What nature provides is so deeply nourishing.

4. The realisation that our eyes are not accustomed to seeing beauty by default. We see the cracks and faults, the lacking and shortcomings. Observing beauty is learning to see again, like a newborn finding the world for the first time.
