Enchantment

Artist unknown

The city swallows me, its gaping mouth widening with illusion.
Dreams here get trapped in the sharp corners, straight walls grasping your freedoms, air so heavy with a pale amnesia.

I belong to a forest that opens me up, expands me like a flowering bud. Like a heart that dilates into feeling. A love rising.

Home has never been stable. My home shifting from one place to another, urgency to the ground below, unsettling to the sole of the foot.

The forest is home.

Normality bores me to death, as the world is stale in its banality, fake to the bone, synthetic textures of living.

I seek day by day the untamed, the wild, the flawed, what still holds realness to the core. What’s left of nature and human, I weave within me, stitch them with needle and thread into my being. So I don’t forget.
So I don’t forget.

Something from a distant edge of this world catches me.
As if a migratory bird carries a seed, lodged within claw, from another land, and sprinkles it on my inner soil. Seeds that contain the potency of love, again; seeds of possibility.

I pray for the miracle of something so delicate surviving against all odds, against great distance and distractions, barriers of understanding, foreign tongue.

It’s the same Miracle that moves through the snowdrops thriving through winter, through flowers that sprout in cracks and concrete, blooming with resilience.

The Miracle through you and me, finding each other in the dark mystery of earth.

You offer me a taste of god from the small cup of your hands, a bitter god that is pleasing to the heart, opening doors to polarity. Revealing the dark within light and the light within dark, the body of demons and dancing of fire, the safety that’s always, always within reach. Discernment, you tell me, sifting through unknown, holding the force of light within. How to float like a light feather surrendering to changing winds. The god in the small cup reaches my heart cave, unearthing a love.

I am grasped by what I cannot grasp, held within full enchantment.
